The ‘climat’, or named vineyard of Pisse Vieille boasts many advantages. This 22 hectare (54 acre) south facing area is between 400 and 500 metres above sea level. The clay, limestone and decomposing granite soil is perfectly suited to vinegrowing. It is the only INAO officially recognized ‘climat’ within the 1300 ha (3212 acre) Brouilly appellation area, which spreads over 6 Beaujolais communes around Mont Brouilly.
