The 2010 vintage is outstanding! Winter 2009-2010 was cold and snowy with temperatures falling dramatically on 19th December to -20°C in just a couple of hours. The extreme cold damaged some of the latent buds thereby reducing their fruiting potential. Due to a variable Spring, with alternating cool, rainy periods and some sunny spells, the flowering was disrupted and the full bloom was registered rather late on 18th June. Summer was quite wet which did not help the vegetation catch up. As a consequence, predicted yields were low. Indeed, as the harvest approached, we noted the small size of the clusters as well as the berries themselves which were thick-skinned and very concentrated, showing excellent potential. Picking began on 28th September and finished on 6th October.
The 2010 Clos de Tart is an elegant and well-balanced wine that is incredibly complex, rich and powerful. It unveils a beguiling bouquet of concentrated red and black fruits, spices and floral notes. The tannic backbone and fresh acidity give this wine great energy on the palate. The finish is persistent, long and very perfumed.
