It´s created out of over 50 years old vineyards plots located in very specific areas of the Rioja Alavesa. New French oak barrels are always used in its elaboration and it is an example of the character that the Mateos family wants to give to its Rioja wines.
Destemmed and fermented in stainless steel tanks, with a controlled temperature of 28 degrees centigrade. 15 days maceration, with continuous pumping over to obtain a good extraction of color. The best grapes are selected from the oldest vineyards and plots of higher altitude.
This wine is aged in French oak barrels for a minimum of 12 months, being kept in occasions up to 16 months in barrel, depending on the evolution of the wine each year that it is produced, and 12 months in bottle until its subsequent market launch.
Aroma with fruity and elegant memories; aging in the barrel provides noble wood, spicy spices and cocoa. In the mouth it is long, intense and balanced.
